Classifications

The classification system enables competitors to shoot in many events in a class against others of similar ability.
The intention is to create an environment in which everyone has a chance to succeed. 
It also produces a yardstick against which to measure individual progress and improvement by promotion through the classes.
The division a competitor is in is dependent on the highest recorded score and classifications will be revised during the season after every shoot. 
There is no unclassified class.
If a competitor shoots an event for the first time, the match score will determine the classification for that match.
As it is the highest achieved score that determines the classification this does not mean that this will be the classification for the whole season. 
The classifications for the ‘short’ events (Timed & Precision One & Two, Multi-Target, Phoenix A and Advancing Target) are in ‘composite‘ classes, one for each calibre. 
These are arrived at by taking the highest class achieved in the component events.
