SECURITY AWAY FROM HOME
Just a reminder for us all to review our own security arrangements. We are all potentially at risk
on journeys to and from the local club and when travelling further a field to meetings around the
country.
First of all, you should look at the guidance notes produced by the Home Office: page 116 of
Firearms Law – Guidance to the Police 2002 or the first page of Part 7 of the Firearms Security
Handbook 2005, which you can download here.

You should then check with your local licensing authority’s website as some also publish their own
guidelines.
It is well worth spending a few minutes thinking about what you do when away from home and if
there is anything you could do better.
Both the NRA and BASC offer insurance and support in matters to do with firearms legislation.
Members should always contact their association when in difficulty if they are in any doubt as to
what action to take.
